S L K Food Processing

Our small food processing unit is located at 12/645-47 in Poovattuparamba. It’s a busy little area and we’ve been here for a good while now. Dealing with food means we have to be careful about cleaning and making sure everything is fresh. The smell of whatever we are processing that day usually fills the whole space. Sometimes it’s spices and other times it’s something else entirely. We have a few machines that do the heavy lifting but a lot of the work is still done by hand. My hands are usually stained or smelling like the ingredients by the end of the shift. The building is an older style and we’ve had to fix the roof a couple of times after the monsoon rains. It gets very humid here so we keep the fans running all day long. We don’t have a fancy website or anything, most people just know us from the address. Local suppliers drop off the raw materials in the mornings and we spend the rest of the day getting it ready for the market. It’s hard work and the hours can be long when we have a big order to fill. We just keep going and try to make sure nothing goes to waste. It’s a simple life running a business in this part of town and we focus on getting the processing done right every single day.
