Taj Ice

Out here at 73 Zakir Hussain Nagar, things stay pretty busy because we are right on the Calicut Main Road. There is always a lot of noise from the trucks and bikes passing by throughout the day. We spend a lot of our time just keeping the place organized and making sure the storage stays at the right temperature. The sun hits the front of the shop pretty hard in the afternoons, so we usually keep the shutters halfway down sometimes to keep the heat out. It is just a regular spot where people stop when they are traveling or if they live around the corner. We don't have any fancy seating or big lights, just the essentials to keep the ice moving. Taj Ice has been here for a while and the locals know where to find us. Sometimes we run out of things when it gets really hot, and we have to wait for the next delivery to come in. The floor gets a bit messy with all the people coming in from the dusty road, so someone is always grabbing the mop. We just do our work and go home when the sun goes down. It’s mostly about managing the stock and talking to the regulars who come by every single day. The main road is never quiet, even late at night, but we just get used to the sound while we are working inside. It is what it is.
