Pandan Leaves Supplies

We handle the pandan leaves here in Thiruvambady. The place is on Ponnankayam Road, which isn't a very big street but it gets the job done for us. It’s mostly just a yard and a small shed where we keep the supplies out of the sun. Dealing with plants like this means our hands are always a bit dirty and the smell of the leaves is everywhere. It’s a good smell, though. We aren’t a big company with a lot of staff. It’s just a couple of us making sure the leaves are sorted and ready to go out. The weather around here can be tricky. When it rains, the road gets quite muddy and it’s hard to move the crates around without slipping. We just do our best to keep things moving. There isn't an office with chairs or anything like that. We spend our time standing or moving stuff from one pile to another. People from the nearby villages know where to find us if they need a bulk order. We don't really do retail sales much, just the supplies for other businesses. It’s quiet work for the most part, away from the main town center. We just keep our heads down and focus on how the leaves look and feel before they leave the yard. It’s a simple trade that hasn't changed much since we started. Nothing fancy, just hard work and the daily routine of the leaves.
