Vinod Dall Mill

Our place is right on Kota Road, just behind the Gurudwara. If you are looking for us, you’ll probably hear the machines before you see the gate. We’ve been processing pulses here at Vinod Dall Mill for quite a long time now. It’s a family business that started with just a couple of small grinders in a tiny room. Now we have a bit more space, but it’s still the same basic work. We spend our mornings unloading trucks of raw dal. The dust gets everywhere, and by the end of the day, our clothes are completely covered in it. It’s not a clean office job, that’s for sure. A receptionist or a fancy waiting area is not something you will find here. Most people just walk into the main shed and look for one of us. We have about four or five guys who help with the heavy lifting and the sorting. The Gurudwara next door is a good landmark, so giving directions is never complicated. Sometimes the electricity is a bit patchy in this part of town, which makes the work take longer than we expect. We just take a break and sit on the bags until the power comes back on. It’s a simple way of living. Money isn't spent on ads or big signs. People know the quality of the dal we produce, and that’s enough to keep us going. We just focus on the daily tasks and make sure the machines are oiled properly.
