Vaseer Mohammad

Living and working near Kota Junction in Naya Gaon means there is always a lot of noise from the trains and people moving about. My name is Vaseer Mohammad, and I’ve been doing this kind of work for a long time now. People usually find me when they have something that needs fixing or if they are planning a small project at their place. I don't have a big office with glass doors or anything like that. Most of my business happens right on the street or over a quick cup of tea. It’s mostly about being there when someone calls and having the right tools in the bag. Sometimes I'm working on pipes, other times it might be some basic masonry or helping out with a renovation. The dust gets everywhere, and some days are much longer than others. I’ve lived in this part of town for years, so I know most of the families around here. They know I’m not going to give them a runaround. Work comes in spurts; some weeks I’m barely home, and others are a bit quiet. I just take it as it comes. It's about getting the job done so the customer doesn't have to worry about it anymore. My boots are old and my truck has seen better days, but we get to the site every morning. That’s just the way it is for me in Naya Gaon.
