Over on Arya Samaj Road, right on the main road, is where Varsha Mobile is located. It is a small space, mostly filled with glass counters and boxes of phone accessories. I usually have the radio playing low in the background while I wait for people to come in. The main road is always noisy with motorcycles and buses, so you have to speak up a bit when talking to customers. We do a lot of screen guards and people always want them put on without any bubbles, which takes a steady hand and some patience. I keep a few second-hand phones in the corner that I’ve cleaned up. Most people just want a cheap cable because theirs broke at the neck. I spend my afternoons sitting on a plastic chair near the door to catch whatever breeze comes in. The walls could use a fresh coat of paint, maybe a light blue or something, but I never seem to find the time. It is just me here most of the day, except for when the delivery boy brings the new stock of batteries or memory cards. Sometimes the electricity goes out and I just sit there in the dark for a bit, watching the people go by outside. It is a simple shop for basic mobile needs on a very busy street. Not much more to it than that, just a way to make a living in the city.
