Being at Dhanmandi 71 means there is always noise and movement around us. This shop has been here for a while, right in the middle of where the farmers come to get their supplies. We handle seeds for different crops depending on what time of year it is. In the mornings, things move fast because everyone wants to get back to their fields. I spend a lot of time talking about the weather and how the soil is doing with the people who walk in. It's a plain shop, mostly just stacks of bags and some ledger books on the desk. You won't find any flashy signs here, just the name on the board. Sometimes the stock arrives late or the truck gets stuck, and we just have to wait it out. That's life in the mandi. My family has been around this area for years, so we know most of the regulars by name. We don't try to act like a big company. If a farmer needs advice on what to plant this season, we just talk it over like neighbors. The floor is usually a bit dusty from the grain and seeds, but that's expected in Dhanmandi. It’s a busy life, but it’s what we do. We open up early and stay until the last customer leaves. It’s just a regular place for people who work the land to find what they need for the next harvest.
