Meenu Mobile Shop

Meenu Mobile Shop is just a regular spot here in Keshavpura. We have a small space that is usually crowded with boxes of new accessories and some old parts we keep just in case. The street outside is usually full of bikes and people walking to the nearby stalls. Inside, it smells a bit like plastic and electronics. We spend a lot of time helping people move their photos from one phone to another or fixing cracked screens that look like spiderwebs. It’s not a quiet job. There is always a phone ringing or someone asking how much a certain cover costs. We try to keep things simple. The display lights flicker a bit if we turn on too many things at once, so we've learned which switches to leave alone. Most of our days are spent behind the counter, watching the neighborhood go by through the front door. We know most of the people who walk past. Sometimes they just stick their head in to say hello. We keep a diary for the repairs so we don't lose track of whose phone is whose. It is a lot of small tasks that fill up the hours from morning until we pull the shutters down at night. We have a small radio that plays local stations in the background, mostly just for some noise while we work. The front step is a bit high, so we always tell people to watch their feet when they come inside.
