You can find Malav Bags on Lal Burj Kaithooni Pole Road. We’ve been operating out of this small storefront for years. It’s a stone building, so it stays relatively cool even when the weather is bad outside. We sell all kinds of bags. Mostly we have things for students and workers. There are backpacks with lots of pockets and simple cloth bags for groceries. We also have some nicer purses for special occasions kept in a glass case near the front. The road outside is always dusty because of the traffic, so we have to dust the bags every single morning before we open. It’s a lot of work. My father started this shop and I took it over after I finished school. I know most of the people who walk past every day. We don't do any big promotions. We just put a few bags on the sidewalk to show what's inside. Sometimes the zippers are a bit stiff on the cheaper bags, so we show customers how to rub a little wax on them to make them slide better. It’s a basic shop for basic needs. We don't try to be anything else. We open six days a week and take Sundays off to rest and spend time with family. It is a quiet life and the business keeps us busy enough to get by.
