Laxmi Bags & Repair

Laxmi Bags & Repair is located in the Main Bazar of Indira Gandhi Nagar, specifically on Udyog Marg. We do two main things here: we sell bags and we fix them. Fixing bags is a big part of our day. People bring in backpacks with broken zippers or suitcases where the wheels have come off. It's messy work sometimes, with thread and scrap material everywhere. We use heavy thread that lasts. It takes time to get the stitches straight on a used bag. We have a couple of old sewing machines that have been with us for a long time. They make a lot of noise but they still work perfectly for heavy canvas and leather. The Main Bazar is a hectic place to be, especially in the evenings when everyone is out doing their shopping. We try to keep the shop organized, but when we have a lot of repairs waiting, it can look a bit cluttered. We’ve lived and worked in this area for years, so we know a lot of the people who walk by. It’s a local operation. We don’t have a big corporate office or anything. It’s just us in the shop, working with our hands. We take pride in being able to save a bag that someone thought was ruined. It’s a good feeling to give someone back their favorite bag in working order. We stay open pretty late to make sure people can drop things off after they finish work.
