Maa Kali Papad Udhyog

Maa Kali Papad Udhyog is located at E-39 in the Large Scale Industrial Area of Govindnagar. This isn't a retail shop where you can walk in and browse; it’s our production unit where we actually make the papads. The whole place smells like cumin, black pepper, and lentil flour. We have a group of people who come in every morning to start the process of mixing the dough and rolling it out into thin circles. It is a lot of physical work and requires a bit of skill to get the thickness just right. We use large open spaces for drying the papads, so we are always keeping an eye on the sky to make sure it doesn't rain. The industrial area in Govindnagar can be quite dusty and loud, but we try to keep our work area as clean as possible for the food preparation. We don't have any polished office space or a marketing team. We just focus on making sure the papads are made the right way, according to the old methods we know. Once they are dry, we pack them into plastic bags and then into cardboard boxes for shipping out to our distributors. It’s a hot and busy environment, especially during the summer months when the fans just move the warm air around. We are just a small-scale industry trying to do honest work every day and make something that people like to eat. It is a long process but we enjoy it.
