Ponnu Food Products

Down here in Anchal, specifically in the Aylara Yeroor area, you’ll find our place. Ponnu Food Products is where we spend our time processing different items. It’s a quiet enough area compared to the city, which is nice for working. We deal with various food products that people use in their kitchens every day. Most of us living around here know each other, so it feels more like a community than just a business. We don't have any fancy machines that do everything for us; there’s a lot of manual work involved. We check the grains or whatever we’re packing by hand to make sure it looks okay. The building isn't anything special to look at, just a sturdy place to keep the rain out and the stock dry. Sometimes the weather gets really humid, and we have to be extra careful with storage. We’ve got a small team, mostly people from around the neighborhood who walk or bike to work. It’s practical work. We fill the bags, seal them up, and get them ready for the local shops to pick up. There’s always a bit of dust in the air from the grinding, and the smell of spices or flour is always stuck in our clothes when we go home. It’s just what we do. We aren't trying to be the biggest company out there, just trying to provide what people need for their meals and keep the local supply going.
