Tokiya Seeds Private Limited is basically run out of Nimkuriya village. We are located near the Joypur post office in the Kashipur area. If you’re looking for us, we’re at Nur Mohammad Molla’s place. It’s not a city office with glass walls or anything like that. Instead, we are right in the middle of where the actual farming happens, which makes more sense for a seed company anyway. Being out here in the 743502 zip code area means we are surrounded by fields and people who actually know the soil. It’s a lot quieter than central Kolkata, though the sound of tractors and local transport is always there in the background. We spend most of our time looking at seed samples and talking to the local growers about what they need for the next season. It’s practical work. Sometimes the electricity goes out for a bit, so we just sit outside and wait or keep working by the light from the windows. It’s a very hands-on way of doing things. We don't have a big marketing department or anything like that. It’s just us, the seeds, and the people we know in the village. We’ve been doing this for a while, and the routine hasn’t changed much over the years. We keep things simple and try to make sure we’re ready when the planting season starts up again.
