The Design Cabana

The Design Cabana is situated at 14 Vivekananda Road. We are in the Rabindra Nagar area, right near the Matrisadan Hospital. It’s a pretty easy landmark to find if you are coming from another part of the city. We do various design projects here, mostly focused on home interiors and small renovation jobs. The office itself isn't very big at all, just a couple of rooms that we’ve filled up with different material samples and various catalogues. It’s usually a bit of a mess in here because we are always looking through different tiles or wood finishes for a client. We have a small group of people working here together. Some of them are really good at drawing, while others are much better at the technical side of things. We aren't a big corporate firm with a glass building or a receptionist. We are just a local team that knows this area of Kolkata really well. Most of the work we get comes from word of mouth around Rabindra Nagar. Sometimes we have to deal with the usual problems like heavy traffic or the summer heat, but we always get by. We don’t make any grand promises; we just show up at the site and do the work that we agreed on doing. It’s a practical way to run a business. We’ve been at this address for a while now and we really like the general vibe of the neighborhood. It is busy but feels like home.
