Sumit Gupta

I’m located at 49 Shyamacharan Road in the Newalipur area of Kolkata. My name is Sumit Gupta and this has been my base for a long time. It’s a typical street in this part of town, always a bit of dust and plenty of people walking by. The house is older, the kind with thick walls that stay a bit cooler in the summer heat. I do my daily business from a small room that looks out toward the street. It’s not very private because you can hear the vendors calling out their goods, but I like being part of the neighborhood. I don’t have any fancy signage or a lobby. If you came looking for me, you’d just see a regular gate and a door. I spend my mornings going through messages and figuring out what needs to be handled. Kolkata is a city that moves at its own pace, and I’ve learned to do the same. Sometimes the electricity goes out for a bit, so I just take a break and sit on the porch. It’s a very grounded way to work. I don’t use any big software or complicated systems, just my notebooks and a laptop. My neighbors know what I do, and sometimes they stop by for a chat. It’s just how life goes on Shyamacharan Road. I try to be fair with everyone I deal with. It's a simple life and I like it that way. No need for anything more than a solid desk and some quiet time.
