Subhasis Kolay

I’m situated right at 5/1, Shibnagar East Lane, which is deep in Kolkata, pin code 700024. If you know this part of the city, you know how the lanes can be a bit narrow and winding. Subhasis Kolay is the name on the door. It’s a typical Kolkata neighborhood where everyone kind of knows what’s going on. The building has been here for years, and I’ve just settled into the rhythm of the place. It isn't a big glass office or anything like that. Just a solid structure where things get handled. I keep the windows open most of the time to get a bit of a breeze, even if the humidity gets a bit much in the afternoons. Sometimes the tea stall down the road is the loudest thing you hear. I’ve lived and worked around here long enough that the noise doesn’t really register anymore. The walls are a bit old, maybe need a fresh coat of paint soon, but they’ve seen a lot of work happen. I don’t go in for anything flashy. I just show up, sit at my desk, and go through the tasks I have for the day. It’s a simple setup. You walk down the lane, look for the number 5/1, and that’s where you’ll find me. Most days are just quiet work days, nothing too exciting, just keeping things moving along in this corner of the city while the world goes by outside.
