Souvik Mullick

My place is over in Bowbazar at 5 B, Ramkanai Adhikari Lane. It’s a typical Kolkata lane, narrow and full of character. If you are looking for me, the best way is to find the Bowbazar Bank of India first. I’m just a short walk from there. The building is an old one, like most things in this part of town. I’ve set up my workspace here and it’s where I spend my entire day. There is no big sign outside, just the address. Inside, it’s mostly books, a desk, and some chairs for whoever stops by. The air is often thick with the smell of the city and sometimes cooking from the neighbors. I don’t have a staff or a fancy office setup. It’s just me, Souvik Mullick, working on whatever needs my attention. The light coming through the small windows isn't great, but it works. I usually have the radio on low in the background or just listen to the sounds from the lane. People drop in to talk or ask about things, and we just sit and chat. It’s a very informal way of doing things. I don't see any need for a polished corporate look. That’s not how Bowbazar works. Everything here has a bit of age to it. I like the pace of life in this corner of Kolkata. It’s quiet in its own way despite being in such a busy district, and I hope to stay here for many more years while I continue my daily tasks.
