Sivechem

Sivechem is located on the ground floor of Kailash Bhavan, which is an old building on Jagat Roy Chawdhury Road. Being on the ground floor at 35A is a blessing because we have a lot of heavy boxes coming in and out. If we had to carry these up the stairs, we would all have bad backs by now. The street is usually crowded with people walking to the nearby shops, so we have to be careful when the delivery vans arrive. Inside, it is mostly shelves and desks. We keep it organized because chemicals and supplies need to be in the right place. It’s not a polished corporate office with carpets; it is a working space. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we are too busy to worry about that. My desk is right near the door, so I see everyone who walks in. We have some regular customers who stop by just to say hello even if they don't need to buy anything that day. It is a friendly atmosphere, even if it gets a bit chaotic when three orders come in at once. We use old-fashioned ledgers for some things because we still trust paper more than the computer sometimes. It is just how we have always done things here at Kailash Bhavan. We stay until the work is done, usually closing up just as the streetlights come on. The neighborhood is loud but we like it.
