Sika

Our place is at 652 Lake Gardens in Kolkata. It’s a nice enough neighborhood with a lot of old trees and houses. Sika has been at this address for a while now. The building is older, so it has high ceilings and those thick walls that keep it a bit cooler. We don’t have any big neon signs or anything like that. You just have to look for the number 652. Inside, it’s mostly just us working at our desks with the sounds of the street coming through the windows. Kolkata has a way of being loud and quiet at the same time. We spend the day handling orders and talking to people about materials. It’s not a glamorous job, but it is steady. We often have to move boxes around to make space for people to sit. The floor is a bit uneven in places, but we’ve gotten used to it over the years. We take our tea breaks seriously and usually send someone out to the local stall for snacks. It’s a very grounded way to work. We don't put on any acts for anyone. If you come by, you’ll see us just as we are, probably busy with some paperwork or on the phone. It’s a practical office for practical work. We like being in this part of the city because it feels like a real community.
