Sign & Neon Co.

We’ve been here at 5-A & B on the first floor of Chowringhee Lane for quite a while now. If you walk up the stairs, you’ll find us surrounded by bits of glass and metal. Sign & Neon Co. isn't a massive factory or anything like that. It’s just a workspace where we get things done. Most days, the lane downstairs is pretty loud, but we’re used to it by now. We spend a lot of time working with neon tubes and bending them into shapes. It takes patience. Sometimes the gas doesn't behave or a wire gets loose, but that’s just how it goes with this kind of work. People come in from all over the city looking for something that stands out. We don’t have a fancy reception area. You basically walk right into where the work is happening. There’s usually some dust on the floor and a few projects leaning against the walls. We try to keep things organized, but when we’re busy, it gets a bit messy. It’s a honest living. We like being in this part of town because everything is close by. If we need a specific tool or some extra paint, we can usually find it just a short walk away. We’ve seen the neighborhood change a bit over the years, but our shop stays mostly the same. Just a bunch of us making signs and trying to get them out the door on time. We like what we do.
