Sarbaninag

I’m Sarbaninag, and my workspace is located at 45/A Baldeo Para Road in North Kolkata. If you’ve ever been to this part of the city, you know how narrow the lanes can get and how much history is in the walls. I’ve been here for years. The building is an old one, typical for the 700006 pin code. It has those thick walls that stay cool even when it’s boiling outside. I do my work from a small room that looks out onto the street. You can hear the rickshaws passing by and the neighbors talking. It’s a very lively atmosphere. I don’t have any fancy equipment or a lobby for people to wait in. Usually, folks just come straight to the door. I handle everything myself, from the paperwork to the actual labor. It’s a lot of work for one person, but I’ve grown used to the routine. Sometimes the electricity acts up, but that’s just part of living in an older neighborhood. I like being here because everyone knows everyone else. It’s not like those cold corporate offices in the IT parks. Here, you are part of a community. I keep my hours flexible, though I’m usually around during the day. It’s a simple, honest setup on Baldeo Para Road, and I wouldn't really want to be anywhere else. It’s home and work all mixed into one. I often have my lunch while sitting by the open window.
