This part of Kolkata has a specific feel to it, and we’ve fit right in over the years. Being in a flat instead of a big office block makes it feel more personal and quiet. We are in the 700032 area of West Bengal. The office is basically a converted apartment, so it has a kitchen and a small balcony. We mostly sit in the main room where the light is a bit better. It’s a quiet building for the most part, which is nice when we need to focus on our papers. We don't have any big signs out front or anything fancy. You just look for the flat number on the door. There’s usually a stack of newspapers on the table and some half-empty cups of tea from the morning. We aren't interested in looking like a big bank or a fancy firm. We’re just local people working in a local neighborhood. Sometimes the elevator in Utpalayan is a bit slow, so we just take the stairs instead. It’s a bit of a climb but it keeps us moving during the day. We’ve been in this flat for quite a while and we know the other residents in the building. It’s a very normal, everyday kind of place to work. We just do our tasks and keep things as simple as possible without any drama.
