We have been operating out of 29 Strand Road for a very long time now. If you know the area near the river, you know how busy it gets with all the trucks and laborers. Our shop is one of those old-school places with high ceilings and thick walls that stay cool even when the Kolkata sun is beating down. We deal in hardware, tools, and industrial supplies that ships and factories need. The floor is made of old stone, and there is always a faint smell of oil and metal in the air. We don't have a website or a fancy catalog. Most of our customers just walk in or call us on the landline like they have for decades. We keep everything recorded in big ledgers because that is just how we’ve always done it. Sometimes it takes a minute to find a specific part in the back because we have so much stuff tucked away in corners. It is a bit dusty, and the shelves are heavy with iron goods. We aren't looking to expand or become some giant corporation. We just like being part of the history of Strand Road. The tea guy comes by twice a day, and that is usually when we take a break. It’s a simple, honest business. We know our regulars by name, and they know they can find us here from morning until the shutters go down. We just keep doing what we know.
