Our shop is at 126-D, right across from the Kalighat Tram Depot on S P Mukherjee Road. Being near the depot means there is always the sound of trams and buses in the background. It’s a very old part of the city, and we’ve been here for quite some time. We do design work, mostly for houses and small offices. The space we have is small, but it’s full of catalogs, fabric swatches, and sketches. It’s a bit of a mess sometimes, but that’s just how we work. People walk in after visiting the temple or while waiting for their tram. We don't have a big staff, just a few of us who know how to draw and plan things out. We don’t use any corporate jargon or big promises. We just listen to what people want for their rooms and see if we can make it happen. Sometimes we sit with a customer for hours just talking about colors. The tea shop next door brings us chai every morning and afternoon. It’s that kind of neighborhood. We like being in Kalighat. It’s got a lot of character. We don't have a fancy storefront with neon lights. Just a sign and our work inside. It’s enough for us. We just keep our heads down and do the designs as best as we can without any fuss or complicated processes. It keeps us quite busy most days.
