We are tucked away at 23A Lake Terrace in Santoshpur. Kolkata-700 075 is a nice enough area, and being near the water makes it feel a bit more relaxed than the city center. At Worksphere Architects Pvt Ltd, we don’t really go for that polished, high-end look in our own office. It’s a functional space where we handle all the technical bits of building design. There are usually a few of us hunched over desks or talking loudly about site issues. Santoshpur has a certain rhythm to it, and we’ve become part of that. Clients usually come in, sit down on whatever chair is free, and we look at the site plans together. It’s a lot of practical talk about bricks, cement, and deadlines. We don't use a lot of big words or try to impress anyone with marketing talk. We just focus on the drawings and making sure the math adds up. Sometimes the office gets messy with samples and files piled up, but we know where everything is. It’s a local operation. We know the neighbors and the tea stall nearby. It’s not a corporate headquarters; it’s just where we do our jobs. The fans are usually humming, and there is always some discussion going on about a project in the works. We like the quietness of Lake Terrace compared to the main roads. It gives us room to think and focus on the work.
