S. K. Chemical

S. K. Chemical is located out in Village-Gangarampur, which is a bit of a drive if you’re coming from the main part of South Alipore. We are tucked away in the PS-Vishnu area. Being in a village means things move a little slower than they do in the big city industrial parks. We actually like it that way. Most of the people working here are from the village itself, so they can walk or bike to work. We deal with various chemical compositions, mostly for industrial use. It can be a bit of a struggle getting the raw materials delivered because the roads around here aren't the best, especially during the monsoon. We’ve had trucks get stuck in the mud more than a few times. Our facility is simple—a few sheds, a storage area, and a small room we use as an office. We don’t have air conditioning, so we keep the big doors open for a breeze. It’s a lot of manual labor, moving sacks and checking temperatures. We don't have any big corporate goals. We just want to make enough to keep the place running and pay everyone a fair wage. We know everyone’s family in the village, so it feels more like a community than just a job. Sometimes we have to stay late to finish a batch, but nobody complains much. It’s just how we live and work out here. We take pride in just getting through the day's tasks.
