We are based out of Flat No-512 in Rail Vihar, which is part of the East Kolkata Township in Madurdaha. It’s a residential complex, so our office is literally a flat where we’ve set up our servers and workstations. We do a lot of research and software development, which mostly involves long hours of sitting in front of monitors and writing code. It’s usually pretty quiet in here, save for the clicking of keys and the hum of the air conditioner when the heat gets bad. Being in a township means it’s a bit separated from the main chaos of the city, which is nice for concentrating on complex problems. We have a small kitchen area where we keep the kettle busy, and lunch is usually something simple ordered from a nearby place or brought from home. The view from the fifth floor shows more of the apartment complex and some of the developing areas around Madurdaha. We don’t have any flashy signs or a corporate lobby; you just come up the elevator and ring the bell like any other apartment. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to wait for the backup to kick in, but that’s just part of working here in Kolkata. We focus on getting the software projects done and making sure the bugs are fixed before the deadlines hit. It’s a small, dedicated team and we’ve gotten used to working in this kind of domestic setting over the years we've been at 700107.
