Our office is at 8 Bedford Lane, just off Park Street. If you know this part of the city, you know how old and narrow some of these lanes are. Rank Marine Logistic operates from a small room here. It is a very traditional building with high ceilings and heavy doors. We spend our time dealing with shipping documents and talking to port authorities. Park Street is famous for many things, but we are just a small part of the logistics side of it. The lane is usually quiet compared to the main road, but it gets busy when people are moving goods. We have a couple of old wooden desks and lots of files on the shelves. It’s the kind of place where you can still see the history of the neighborhood. We don't have a big corporate setup. It is just us and our phones, making sure the marine cargo gets to where it needs to go. Sometimes the paperwork gets overwhelming because of all the regulations, but we just take it one page at a time. We drink a lot of tea while we wait for calls from the docks or the customs agents. It is a specific kind of work and being tucked away in Bedford Lane works for us. We know the local shopkeepers and they know we are the ones handling the shipping stuff. The walls are a bit faded, but it feels like home after all these years.
