Rajendra Maharaj

Rajendra Maharaj is located at 47 A, Satish Mukherjee Road. It is a familiar corner in Kalighat where we have been for a while. Usually, you can find us busy with the stoves and big pots. My name is Rajendra and people here just call me Maharaj because of the cooking work. The street is always loud and crowded, but inside our space, we just focus on the food we make every day. It is not a fancy setup with air conditioning or anything like that. We have wooden benches and a lot of steam from the rice. Sometimes the floor gets a bit messy when we are in a hurry, but that is how a real kitchen works. We get our vegetables from the local market nearby every morning. The helpers have been with me for years, so we all know what needs to happen without talking much. If you walk down Satish Mukherjee Road, you will see the sign. It is a simple place for people who just want a meal. We don't spend money on big ads or shiny lights. We just keep the fire going and make sure there is enough for everyone who stops by. It gets really hot in the summer months, but we are used to it by now. That is just life here in Kalighat at our small spot.
