Down at 13 Nather Bagan Street, things move at their own pace. Partha Das & Associates is located right in the heart of the 700005 area of Kolkata. It’s an old part of town, and our office fits right in with the surrounding buildings. We have a lot of stairs to climb and the hallways are narrow, but it's where we've set up shop. Inside, it's mostly bookshelves and old wooden desks that have seen better days. We don't spend money on fancy furniture because it wouldn't change the quality of what we do. The work is mostly quiet, involving a lot of research and writing. You can hear the sounds of the street vendors outside most mornings. It’s a lived-in space. We don't have a big marketing department or anyone to write shiny speeches for us. We just handle the tasks as they come in. Sometimes the electricity acts up, or the internet goes slow, but we manage. Everyone here knows their job. We’ve got a small kettle for making tea, and that’s about as high-tech as our break room gets. It’s a simple setup for a group of people who just want to get through their to-do lists. If you find yourself on Nather Bagan Street, look for number 13, and you’ll find us tucked away inside. We usually stay until the work for the day is finished.
