Ms Kumkum Ray

I am Ms Kumkum Ray, and I provide my services from 45 C, Abdul Halim Lane in Kolkata. My place is situated right near St Gem School, so it is a very convenient spot for many of the local families whose children go there. Abdul Halim Lane is one of those typical Kolkata streets—narrow, busy, and full of life. It’s a residential area mostly, so it has a very community feel to it. I’ve set up a dedicated space in my home where I can work with students. It is not a big institute with lots of rooms. It’s just a comfortable, quiet corner where we can focus. There are books everywhere and a small table for us to work at. I like it this way because it stays personal. I get to know the students and their families really well. The walk from the main road to the lane takes a few minutes, and you pass by a lot of local shops and houses. During the monsoon, the lane can get a bit soggy, but that’s just part of living in this city. I’ve been here for a long time, and my neighbors are all very familiar with the coming and going of my students. It’s a modest way to work, but it suits me. I don’t need anything more than my books and a quiet space to help out. That is just how I have always done it.
