Maheswari & Associates

We are based at 21 Ashoke Row in the Gangulybagan area of Kolkata. It is a quiet enough street most days, though you get the usual sounds of the city drifting in. Maheswari & Associates is a small team. We have been in this spot for quite some time now and the walls are filled with folders and books we’ve gathered over the years. It isn’t the kind of office where everything is white and shiny. We have old wooden desks and the ceiling fan hums a bit when it’s on the high setting. Being in South Kolkata means we get to see the local life right outside our door. We usually start the day with some tea and a look at what came in the mail. There’s always something to sort through. We don't spend money on fancy decorations because it doesn't really help with the work we do. People come to see us because they know where we are and they know we will sit down and listen to them. It gets humid here in the summer, but we keep the windows open when we can. Working here feels natural to us. It’s just a regular office doing regular things for people in the neighborhood and beyond. Sometimes the internet acts up, but we just wait it out. That’s just how it goes sometimes when you have a lot to get through.
