Maa Harsiddhi Computers

We’re up on the second floor at 8 Portugese Church Street, right near the Calcutta GPO. It’s an old part of town with a lot of history in the walls. Maa Harsiddhi Computers has been running out of this space for a good bit. The building has that classic feel you only find in this part of the city. We spend our time fixing computers and dealing with parts. The workshop often has three or four machines opened up on the benches. It’s not a shiny showroom. It’s a place where work actually gets done, so there’s a bit of dust and a lot of tools lying around. We like being near the GPO because it’s easy for people to find us when they’re in the area. The stairs up to the second floor are a little steep, so we tell people to take their time. We aren't interested in being a big chain store. We like the personal side of things, where we can actually talk to the people who bring their laptops in. It’s just a few of us here. We’ve seen all sorts of computer problems over the years, from broken screens to spills. We don't use a lot of technical jargon if we can help it. We just tell you what's wrong and how we can fix it. It's a steady job in a nice old neighborhood.
