The office for M M Machinery & Equipment Company is at 138, Ground Floor on Bniplabi Rash Behari Basu Road. Being on the ground floor is actually a big help because we deal with some pretty heavy machinery parts, and moving them up stairs would be a nightmare. The road outside is always packed with people and traffic, so it’s never quiet. You can hear the horns honking and people shouting all day long. It’s a gritty part of the city, but it’s where all the action is for equipment and tools. The shop floor is a bit dark, and it smells like oil and metal most of the time. We have shelves reaching all the way to the ceiling, packed with things I don't even know the names of sometimes. M M Machinery & Equipment Company has been a fixture on this street for a long time. We have regular customers who just walk in off the street looking for a specific bolt or a motor. It’s a bit cluttered, and there’s always a layer of grease on the pens, but that’s part of the job. We don’t have a fancy website or anything like that. We just talk to people and sell them what they need for their projects. It’s a very practical, hands-on kind of place. The days go by fast when you’re busy with orders and deliveries. We just keep our heads down and work.
