We’ve been running J G Chemicals out of this building on Metclafe Street for quite a while now. We are up on the third floor at number 34A. If you know this part of the city, you know the streets are narrow and always full of people and carts moving goods. It’s a very traditional business area, and our office fits right in with that. It’s an old building with a lot of character, though the stairs can be a bit of a climb if you aren’t used to them. Inside, it’s mostly just us working away at our desks. We deal with various chemical supplies and industrial raw materials. The walls are lined with old shelves and there is always the smell of paper and old wood in the air. We don't have a modern glass office or anything like that. It’s a functional space where we handle the day-to-day business of buying and selling. Most of our clients have been with us for decades, often passed down through families. We still do a lot of things the old-fashioned way, focusing on personal contact and keeping our word. It gets noisy with the street sounds coming through the windows, but we don’t mind it much. It’s just the rhythm of the city. We’re just a small, hardworking group trying to keep the business going steady in a changing world. It's not glamorous, but it's what we know best after all these years.
