Geetanjali

Geetanjali is a small spot over in Bagh Bazaar, specifically on Thakur Radha Kanta Lane. It is an old part of the city, and the lanes can be a bit tight for cars. We are near the post office. This place has a certain rhythm to it. We open up in the morning, sweep the front, and get ready for whoever walks in. We deal with various items that local people need for their homes. It is not a supermarket or a high-end mall. It's more of a traditional shop where you can actually talk to the person behind the counter. Sometimes we have old customers who come in just to talk about the weather or the local news before they buy anything. We know most of the families around here. It gets quite warm in the afternoons, so we usually have the fan going full blast. The shelves are filled with all sorts of things, and sometimes it takes a minute to find exactly what someone is looking for. We don't do much advertising. People mostly find us because they live nearby or their parents used to shop here. It is a simple way of doing business. We keep our records in big notebooks and try to keep things organized. It’s a quiet life in North Kolkata, and we like it that way. We are always here from ten to eight.
