Kolkata is a city that never really stops, and here on Camac Street, it’s the same story every single day. Digha Seafood Exports has been tucked away at 20/1 for a while now. If you walk into our office, you’ll see stacks of papers, a few old desks, and probably hear the hum of the air conditioner trying its best to keep up with the heat outside. We aren’t a massive corporation with fancy lobbies. It’s just us, a handful of people making sure the seafood gets from the coast to where it needs to go. Most mornings start way before the sun is even up. We are on the phone with the docks, checking what came in and what the quality looks like. It gets messy sometimes. Logistics in this city isn't always smooth, especially when the traffic on Camac Street gets backed up in the afternoon. We’ve had days where the trucks are late or the ice melts too fast, and we just have to figure it out on the fly. There’s no magic to it, just a lot of coordination and hoping the rain doesn’t flood the streets again. Our neighbors know us as the guys who are always busy with crates and clipboards. We don’t spend much time on fancy websites or big speeches. We just focus on the crates in front of us. It’s a bit loud, a bit chaotic, but it is our daily life here.
