If you head down to 19/5 P.G Lane in Kolkata, you’ll find us. We’re just called Consultancy, which is about as straightforward as it gets. The lane is one of those typical Kolkata spots—a bit narrow and always smelling like something being cooked nearby. Our office is in an older building, the kind with thick walls and high ceilings that stay a bit cooler in the summer. We’ve been here for quite some time now, and most of the neighbors know us by now. It’s not a flashy place. We have some old wooden desks and cabinets full of files that have been there since we started. Every day is different, depending on who walks through the door or what the postman brings. Sometimes it’s quiet, and we just sit and do the accounting or read through some new regulations. Other days, it’s a bit of a madhouse with people coming in and out, asking questions and leaving documents. We don't have a receptionist in a suit; usually, whoever is closest to the door just looks up and says hello. We usually get our lunch from the local mess nearby, and that’s the highlight of the day. It’s a very local way of working. We don't use much fancy software or have big meetings. We just sit down, talk through what needs to happen, and get it done. It’s a bit messy sometimes, but that’s just how it goes here in the middle of the city.
