Chowdhurys Guest House

We are located right on Chowringhee Road, which most people in Kolkata know is a very busy part of town. Our place, Chowdhurys Guest House, sits at number 55, near Midleton Row. If you are looking for us, we are pretty much across from the Nehru Childrens Museum and not far from the Exide Crossing at all. This area has a lot of history and there’s always something going on outside our doors. We’ve been here for a while now, running things out of this building in the Rabindra Sadan area. It’s a simple setup really. We spend most of our day checking people in and making sure the rooms are ready for whoever is arriving next. Being so close to the main road means it can get a bit loud sometimes, but it also means it is easy to find a taxi or a bus to get anywhere else in the city. The staff here mostly grew up around Kolkata, so we know the shortcuts and where to get a decent tea nearby. We don't have fancy lobbies or anything like that. It is just a guest house where travelers can put their bags down and sleep for a night or two. Sometimes families come because of the museum across the street, and other times it’s people here for work near the crossing. We just keep things moving and try to keep the place tidy for everyone who stays here.
