Our office is at 33 Brabourne Road, right in the heart of the old business district. If you’ve ever walked down this street, you know how packed it is with people, handcarts, and vehicles. The building itself is older, with high ceilings and that specific smell of old paper and city dust. We deal with various chemicals and speciality products, so there’s always a bit of paperwork shuffling around on the desks. It isn't a modern glass-and-chrome setup; it’s more like a traditional Kolkata workplace where things move at their own steady pace. The fans rotate slowly overhead while we coordinate deliveries and talk to suppliers over the phone. Sometimes the noise from the street below gets quite loud, but we’re used to it by now. We don't have fancy leather chairs or a coffee bar. Instead, we have metal cupboards full of files and a small pantry where we make tea. Most of the people working here have been with us for a long time, so we all know how the system works. It can be a bit chaotic during the peak hours of the day when the couriers are coming in and out, but we manage to stay organized enough. It’s just a regular place where we show up, do the work, and deal with the daily challenges of running a business in such a busy area. Most of us take the bus or the metro to get here every morning.
