We are over in the Dum Dum area of Kolkata, specifically on Mc Gargen Road. Our office is located at 69/4, and it is a typical old Kolkata building with a lot of character and maybe a few too many stairs to climb. We handle associate work, which basically means a lot of paperwork, legal filings, and meeting with local people who have problems they need to solve. The office is often filled with the smell of old paper and the constant sound of the street outside. Dum Dum is always moving, and you can hear the buses and the horns all day long from the desk. We have a few big wooden desks and shelves that are sagging a bit under the weight of all the files we have to keep for the records. It is not a modern glass office like you see in the movies. It is just a place where real work gets done every day. Sometimes the humidity is so thick you feel like you are swimming, but we keep the fans going and keep moving through the pile of documents. We do not have a receptionist in a suit. Usually, whoever is sitting closest to the door is the one who answers it. We take our afternoon tea breaks seriously because you need a moment to breathe. We have been at this for a long time, so we know the local systems and how to get things filed correctly.
