If you are looking for Balaka Dey, you will find me at 2 Nakuleswar Bhattacharjee Lane in Kolkata. This is an old part of the city, near the 700026 pin code area. The lanes around here are quite narrow and full of history. My workspace is tucked away inside one of these old buildings. It’s got high ceilings and those big windows that let in the Kolkata humidity, but I love it. I have been working from this lane for quite a long time. People around here know me as just another local person doing their job. I don't have any big posters or neon signs out front. You just look for the number 2 on the door. Inside, it’s a bit cluttered with all the things I’ve collected over the years, but I know exactly where everything is. The morning starts with the sound of the trams or the buses on the main road, and then it’s just me and my work until evening. I like the pace of life here in West Bengal. It’s not always fast, but it’s steady. I don’t believe in making things more complicated than they need to be. I just take the orders, do the work, and make sure people are satisfied with what they get. It’s a simple life and a good one. There is something special about working in a place with so much character.
