Out on Ankale Road in Dafalapur, there is a spot at Gat No 39 where we keep our office. Thegreengold Agro Farmer Producer Company Limited is based there in Jat. It’s a bit of a drive to get out here, but it’s where the land is. We spend most of our time dealing with the reality of farming in this part of Maharashtra. It’s not always easy. The soil can be stubborn and the weather doesn’t always do what you want. We are a group of farmers who decided it was better to work together than to struggle on our own. Our office is simple, just some tables and chairs and a lot of talk about the crops. We don't have any marketing people or fancy brochures. If you want to know what we do, you just have to look at the fields. We handle the collection and the sorting of what we grow. It’s physical work and it keeps us busy from sunrise. Sometimes we have meetings that go on too long because everyone has a different opinion on how to handle the next season. But that’s how it goes when you’re working with people you’ve known your whole life. We just want to get through the year with a bit of a profit and keep the farms going for the next generation.
