Out here in Ghatotand, you will find the Tata Steel Ltd. office for the Natural Resources Division and West Bokaro Division. It is a bit of a way out in the Hazaribagh district of Jharkhand. The post office is right there in Ghatotand. This isn't a city office with traffic and tall buildings. It is much closer to the actual ground. We spend our time dealing with the resources and the division work that happens in West Bokaro. It is a very practical kind of environment. People wear boots and get their hands dirty. The office is just a base of operations for the division. It is located where the work is, which makes sense for everyone. Tata Steel Ltd. has a long history in this part of Jharkhand. Being out here in Hazaribagh feels different than being in the middle of Jamshedpur. It is more about the land and the materials. The air is different and the pace is set by the operations. We have a simple setup at the P.O. Ghatotand location. It is where the maps are kept and where the planning for the natural resources stuff happens. There isn't any corporate fluff here. Just desks, computers, and people who know the area well. It is a working site and the building reflects that. It's nothing like those polished places you see in magazines.
