Appachakavi Vidyalaya English Medium School

Appachakavi Vidyalaya English Medium School is tucked away in South Coorg on Srimangal Road. If you are driving towards Ponampet or Madikeri, you might pass by us. This part of Coorg is beautiful with all the greenery, and our school is right in the middle of it. The air is usually fresh, though it gets very damp during the monsoon months. Our building is a simple one, and we have students who come from the surrounding coffee estates. You can often see the mist hanging over the trees in the early morning when the kids are arriving. The classrooms are a bit chilly in the winter, so the children usually wear their sweaters. We don't have a lot of high-tech equipment, but we have plenty of space for the kids to be outside. The teachers here are used to the quiet life of the hills. Sometimes the bus is late because of the winding roads, but we just start when everyone gets here. The desks are wooden and some are getting a bit old now. We have a small area where the kids eat their lunch, usually bringing food from home. It is a very local school, and we know most of the parents by name because it’s a tight-knit community. We just go about our business, teaching English and other subjects, and trying to keep the school running smoothly despite the heavy rains we get. It is just an ordinary school in the hills.
