Our office is right on Marar Road over on Willingdon Island. If you know the area, you know it feels a bit different from the rest of Cochin. You can smell the salt from the water and there is always that hum of the port nearby. We have been here for a good while, and the building shows it. The walls are a bit faded and the floors have marks from where we move the tea chests around. We spend most of our mornings tasting different batches. There are small white cups lined up on the long tables and we spend a lot of time slurping and spitting into the bins. It is not very glamorous work, but it is what we do. The ceiling fans are always on high, but they just move the warm air around. Sometimes the ships are late and that throws our whole week off. We have a small staff and we all know each other's business. It gets quiet in the evenings once the big trucks stop moving around the island. We usually just wrap up the paperwork and head home before the bridge gets too crowded. We do not have a big fancy lobby or anything like that. Just some old wooden desks and the smell of dried tea leaves that seems to stick to everything we own. It is a steady kind of life here on the island, keeping things moving through the port.
