If you ever find yourself near Mg Road in Kakkanadu, you might pass by our place at No. 1/526 - D Varinjavila Veedu. We are tucked in there in Palachuvadu via Padamughal. Scorpion Fruits Supplly Company isn't a massive warehouse or anything; it is more of a family-run hub where we manage the fruit distribution. My cousins and I usually start before the sun comes up because that is when the freshest fruit arrives. The air always smells like oranges or mangoes depending on the month. It can get pretty cramped with all the crates stacked up, and sometimes it feels like we are tripping over each other, but we manage. The traffic on the way to Padamughal can be a real headache in the afternoons, but that is just part of living in this area. We don't have a polished showroom. People usually just come to the back to see what we have in stock. We use an old truck that has seen better days, but it gets the job done. Working with fruit is tricky because everything has to move fast before it spoils. We do not have time for long meetings or fancy presentations. We just check the quality, load the crates, and get them out to the local shops. It is tiring work and your back usually hurts by five o’clock, but it feels good to be part of the local food chain here in Kakkanadu.
