Maa Tarini Canteen

Our canteen is located in Annapurna Apartment on Tanka Pani Road. It’s quite close to Ravi Talkies and the Brit Colony area. It is a busy little corner of the world. We serve food to the people living in the apartments and those just passing through the neighborhood. The space isn't very big, so it can get a bit cramped during the lunch hour when everyone shows up at once. We have some basic tables and chairs, nothing fancy at all. We cook the kind of food people eat at home. It’s not restaurant-style with heavy creams or strange ingredients. Just dal, rice, and whatever vegetables are in the market that morning. Sometimes we run out of the special curry before 1 PM, and people get a bit annoyed, but we only cook what we can handle for the day. The kitchen is right there, so you can hear the stove and the dishes clanking while you eat. It’s a bit noisy, but it feels alive. We don't have a menu printed on glossy paper; it's usually just written on a small board or we just tell you what's ready. Maa Tarini Canteen has been here for a while and most of our customers are regulars who don't even need to look at the board anymore. They just sit down and we bring the plate. It is a simple life and we enjoy the daily routine of feeding our neighbors.
