Out here at Word No-19 in Chandiprasada, things move at a bit of a slower pace, which is how we like it at Bharadwaja Agro Fed Farmers Producer Company Limited. Pradip Kumar Sahoo helps keep things organized around the place. We’re located near the Gayatri Bidyamandir, so you can usually hear the school kids if the wind is blowing right. It is a group of us local farmers who decided to pool what we have so we could get by a bit easier. Farming in this area has its ups and downs, especially when the rains are late or the markets are acting strange. We mostly deal with the regular crops that grow well in our soil. It is not a big corporate setup with shiny floors, just a regular building with some storage space and a lot of paperwork that never seems to end. We spend a lot of time talking about fertilizer prices and which plots are doing the best. It feels right to be working with neighbors you have known for years. Sometimes we just sit on the porch and watch the trucks go by on Plot No 191. It isn't always easy work, and some days are longer than others, but having the company helps us stay sorted. We just do the work that needs doing every day and hope for a decent harvest at the end of it all. It is a plain life but a good one for our families.
