K C M P is tucked away at number 32 in Uppala. If you are driving through, it’s easy to miss if you aren't looking for the sign. We’ve been operating from this building for a long time. It isn't a massive warehouse or anything, just a practical space where we handle our business. Most of the people working here live nearby, so they walk or take a cycle. The weather in Uppala can be quite wet during the monsoon, which sometimes slows down the arrivals, but we just wait it out. Inside, it’s usually a bit noisy with people moving things around or talking over the fans. We don't spend much time on decorations or making the place look like a corporate office. It’s more about the crates and the ledgers. Sometimes the phone rings all morning and other times it’s completely silent. We like the pace of it. Dealing with the daily logistics keeps everyone busy enough. When things get busy, everyone chips in, even the ones who usually stay at the desks. We’ve known the families around here for years, so it feels like a community effort. Uppala is a decent place to be based, even if it’s small. We just focus on getting the tasks finished by the time the sun goes down so we can go home to our families. It’s straightforward work and we don't try to make it seem like more than what it is to anyone else.
